What Is OWCP and Who Does It Cover?
The Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor and provides benefits to federal civilian employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job. It is governed by the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA).
OWCP covers a wide range of work-related conditions including back and neck injuries, shoulder and joint injuries, repetitive stress injuries, slip and fall accidents, and the aggravation of pre-existing conditions caused by your federal duties. OWCP also covers massage therapy when medically necessary and prescribed as part of your treatment plan.
If your claim has been accepted by OWCP, you are entitled to chiropractic treatment at no cost to you. Ascension Chiropractic bills the Department of Labor directly using your case number — you will never receive a bill.

How OWCP Billing Works at Ascension Chiropractic
We make the billing process as simple as possible for you. Here's what to expect:
Step 1: Report your injury.
As soon as possible after your injury, report it to your supervisor and file your claim with OWCP — Form CA-1 for traumatic injuries or Form CA-2 for conditions that developed over time.
Step 2: Obtain your OWCP case number.
Once your claim is accepted by the Department of Labor, you will receive a case number. Bring this to your first appointment.
Step 3: We bill OWCP directly.
Ascension Chiropractic bills the Department of Labor directly using your case number. You will not receive a bill.
Step 4: We handle your CA-17 forms.
If your injury requires modified or limited duty, Dr. Bess will complete the OWCP Form CA-17 Duty Status Report accurately and promptly throughout your treatment.
